23. The UL CU has been under the construction for 9 months and it is recorded in this Report on Contruction Works and Financing of the Work.

22. Two amendments to the agreement defined more concrete explanation of mutual relationships between the investor and the constructor. Moreover, via the third amendment, the constructor placed under contract to complete the construction and hand it over to the investor earlier, i.e., September 18, 2012 at the latest. The project of the moving, relocating and furnishing of the interior together with the date of the opening of the new University Library depend on the date of the completion. We offer you to take a glance at the interior of the new building and to visit the town in town.

21. Severe frost paralyzed fast progress of schedule of works which is under contract. Despite that, placing concrete on the third floor proceeds according to the plan, i.e. February 22, 2012.

20. In the southwestern part of the first and the second floor of the UL CU there we can admire the work of art "Hope" by Pavol Rusko a senior lecturer at our University. The work consists of 58 pieces of equal triangles with parametres 1,5 x 1,5 x 2,25 m. Artistic technique: acrylic painting. The second Rusko's work of art "Pater Noster" (5x12m) - a plotbased text embedded on colourful acrylic sheets will be placed opposite the entrance of the UL CU on the first three floors.

19. Ing. arch. Stanislav Šutvaj prepared the study and the project of the interior of the University Library of the Catholic University. It became groundwork for public procurement for a supplier of the interior of the University Library. The supplier of the interior will be chosen in the public procurement. The supplier will be responsbile for the interior (according to basic contract) in Sepember 2012.

18. A new information system that will assist you in the library will be a part of life of the University Library of the Catholic University. Authors of study and the project are Tibor and Mária Záhorec and Matúš Demko.

17. The second invoice in the amount of € 752.413,98 for the construction works during the second three-month period of the construction of the University Library of the Catholic University was delivered on January 9, 2012. The invoice is due within next six months.

16. As far as the date of November 2011, we have gained donations in the amount of € 2,2 mil for the construction of the University Library. We sincerely thank all donors! As we have used a part of donations to cover costs related to the construction, you still may support this project via any donation. Here is the number of our bank account. We thank you in advance for your generosity!

15. We have documented all the works by camera performed during September – November 2011: stabilisation of the building pit, ground work, realisations of pilots and the foundation plate, the first walls of underground level, groundfloor, the first floor.

14. Costs of the construction of the University Library of the Catholic University in the amount of € 8,3 mil. as stated in the point 7 below (the result of public procurement). The costs are to be covered from three sources:
A, from the funds of European Union in the amount of € 2,8 mil. (look at the point 8)
B, own resources and donations in the amount of € 2,2 mil.
C, we are to apply for another resources from the structural funds of EU in the amount of € 3.3 - 4 million in the operational programe in Research and Development 5.1/04. The deadline for application is February 27, 2012.

13. The first invoice in the amount of € 579.677,89 for the construction work of the University Library for the first three months with the date of issuance of November 8, 2011. Invoicing for the construction works will followed the scheduled financial plan every three months with the maturity date of six months.

12. June - August 2011 were the first months of construction of the University Library. According to the Schedule of the Construction, the following activities have been performed: The building site, stabilisation of the building pit, ground work which was recorded by the camera and television camera. The foundation- realisations of pilots and the foundation plate are planned in September 2011. The first walls of underground level could be seen in October 2011.

11. Universita v meste (University in Town) - meeting of friends of the Catholic University on the occasion of the beginning of the construction of the University Library of CU took place on June 16, 2011 at 5 p.m. at the Rectorate of the Catholic University.

10. Sanctification of the foundation stone took place on May 11, 2011. The Contract for Work with the constructor was signed on May 31, 2011. The construction can start after the contract comes into force on June 4, 2011 and it will follow the defined schedule.

9. We suggest that the new University library will be connected with the personality of Jozef kardinál Tomko. He is a doctor honoris causa of the Catholic University and he has been involved himself in finding sources for the construction of the University Library.

8. An important step for financing of the work was the request for non-recurring financial contribution from the European Union and the registration of the project with the title “Rozvoj informatizácie vzdelávania a vzdelávacej infraštruktúry KU“ (Development of Informatization of Education and Educational Infrastructure of CU) on October 19, 2009. The contract with The Agency of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic for the Structural Funds of EU in the Operational Programme Research and Development, call for proposals nr. 5.1./03 for support of realization of the project in the amount of výške 5. 643, 358 €, 50% for construction work, 50% for technologies and equipment of the University Library. the Slovak Bishops’ Conference agreed with the in-church collection for the catholic University on January 31, 2010 (the amount of 415,000€) and with the in-church collection in 2011 (the amount of 305,000 €). The Caonference also agrred with the feast of the Sunday of the Catholic University in parishes. We have addressed several institutions and individuals with a request for a support with the construction of the University Library, we carry on with fundraising with an aim to gain financial means needed for the construction.

7. The Public Procurement to Select the Constructor of the University Library. The first public procurement to select the constructor of the University Library on October 7, 2009 was cancelled by request of Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic. We announced the preliminary notice on public procurement for the construction of the Catholic University Library in the Slovak Public Procurement Portal and the European Public Procurement Bulletin on the 13th of December 2010. With the aim to achieve the lowest possible costs we chose the form of the public procurement: the public competition with the only criterion – the lowest price.

We were pleased that, by means of the public competition, we succeeded to decrease the planned expenses of the construction from 14 136 902,47 € (the updated price according to the schedules of rates valid for the year 2011). The reduction is 5 752 409 €, i.e., 41%. The price of the work is supposed to be now 8 384 492,90 €.

6. Preparatory Site Works were realized from the year 2010 until May 2011.

5. Another set of activities was obtaining licences for construction. Processing of requests, docummentation and decision by Obvodný úrad pre životné prostrdie (Circuit Authority) on an impact on the environment on March 16, 2009. The statement of the Office for Public Procurement of the Slova Republic that every construction of the Catholic University is classified as autonomous and there is no need to sum up commodities and to have only one constructor of construction work was certificated on May 13, 2009. The selection of the supplier of removal of buildings on Žilinská cesta street took place on August-September 2009. An important milestone was the obtaining of the building permission on August 18, 2009.

4. Besides these steps, the Catholic University obtained ownership for the land under the building of Rectorate, the building for the Faculty of Health Care, the Hostel Ruža, the reconstruction of rooms for new laboratories at Hrabovska cesta street, the lift in the building of Rectorate, the additional building of the faculty of Arts and Letters, reconstruction of the building of Faculty of Pedagogy at Hrabovská cesta street 1 (basement, 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors), a parking lot at Žilinská cesta street.

3. A condition for the construction of the University Library was to obtain the ownership of the land. A Purchase of the land (atrium at Hrabovská and Žilinská streets) from the non-investment funds of Faculty of Arts and Letters and Faculty of Education took place in October 2008. The Catholic University negotiated with representatives of the town Ružomberok about the support of the investment by the town. The approval of the municipal corporation in Ružomberok to sell the D-block and building around to the University was issued on Ovtober 29, 2008. The purchase of the land and the building of the grocery store from Mrs. Brezániová took place on November 5, 2008. The purchase of lands around social flats from Mr. Achimský and Mr. Fischer took place on March 4, 2009. The purchase of several smaller lots from several private proprietors took place in August 2009.

2. Public procurement for the project docummentation and signing the contract with the winner took place in 2008. The architectural design was ready on November 2008. The project docummentation for area management was ready in December 2008, for the building permission in January 2009. The budget of the construction and the assessment was ready in March 2009. The completion of the project documentation was ready in May 2009.

1. The construction of the University Library of the catholic University was approved by the bodies of the catholic University in Ružomberok: by the Academic Senate on November 15, 2006, later on it was confirmed by the approval of investment for the period of 2008 – 2012 on December 16, 2008. The Board of Trustees discussed the Plan of Invsetment and took cognizance o fit during its session on May 27, 2009.
